Who Was He Speaking of When He Said, “Our” Image?

          
          I heard someone say recently, “We (you) have to stop reacting as if you are not spirit and respond as you are—because you are.” You occupy a fleshly body, but you are not flesh. How many times have you heard that? You are a Spirit and spiritual being... when God said, “Let’s make them in “our” image, many people miss the “OUR” and consequently miss the sum total of their existence. ~Genesis 1:26~
          How many of us have misunderstood this scripture to mean our fleshly, body, exterior image is the “image” of God? I sure had... but no more. I told you before, I am awakened to a spiritual epiphany... 
         Who are the “Us” and “Our” in this scripture? They are Angels... Spiritual creatures. We are operating in this earthly realm far below our heavenly and spiritual privilege. I know, I did... but no more. 

The entire scripture reads:

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

“let him have dominion over...” We (I) have (partially) mistakenly understood this to mean — I am a higher level of creature, consequently justifying them (other creatures) as being part of this earthly ecosystem that I get to use for my purposes. But what I missed is that I have God-appointed, God-breathed, command over “things in the earth.” People that don’t even believe in God... or Jesus Christ have mastered this reality and qualitatively have rendered results in their lives because they operate from a place of being the commander of, and over the things the earth is here to provide them. Sounds like a lot ... I get it. But it’s not that complicated... when Jesus raised Lazarus (John 11:38-44), He asserted that “He was (is) the resurrection.” Not.. “I am a resurrector.” Not I am the person that does a thing... He was saying, “I AM the thing!” We (I) have lived life waiting and working for the thing ... instead of living as if I am the thing! This is the difference between reacting to life instead of responding to it with intentionality and “authority.” Yesssss... I said, “Authority.” Under the tutelage and governance of God, authority in this earthly realm changes the way the earth responds to us and our needs while we are here.

       There is so much freedom and power just in knowing this... not to mention praying it out daily and then living accordingly!

    We are spiritual angelic creatures in fleshly form with more power and command in, not only the earth, but our personal life’s than we have believed!

Talk about living your best life — oh my!

What Was Once Before Shall Be Again…

  W hile navigating the many vicissitudes of womanhood… I often think of my mom and her sisters… and their mom (granny). My mother was born in February 1922–and in January 1922–“The Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill, the first of its kind, passes the U.S. House of Representatives in part due to the efforts of the NAACP.” She birthed me in 1964 when Dr. King was leading the cause for Civil Rights. Just a bit of trivia… In December’64 the month/year of my birth—“he made a stop in London for three days to preach at St. Paul's Cathedral and meet with leaders of the peace community.”       B ut prior to—and therein my mother—her mother—her sisters were Black women in an era when mostly all the freedoms, access and privileges that we enjoy(ed) today was denied them. But they somehow could see a brighter future—from where they began—and forge ahead with that hope. What are you reading? 📚

S omeone will ask me this at least 2-3xs a year… So, thought I’d share a couple of the books that carried me through 2024–a couple will stay in rotation. Seemingly having no correlation with the other—but amazingly weaved together —and resided over—nurtured —and enveloped my heart, mind, soul—spirit—and body—this year like a  combination of 1000 thread count sheet—pillows—and comforter—like “The Comforter.” And for those of you that know that feeling—you know.
