What are you reading? đź“š

Someone will ask me this at least 2-3xs a year… So, thought I’d share a couple of the books that carried me through 2024–a couple will stay in rotation. Seemingly having no correlation with the other—but amazingly weaved together —and resided over—nurtured —and enveloped my heart, mind, soul—spirit—and body—this year like a  combination of 1000 thread count sheet—pillows—and comforter—like “The Comforter.” And for those of you that know that feeling—you know. But because I know how intricately woven I am by God—and how Intimately involved He is in the most minuscule matters of my life—He orchestrated the theme of my reading and writing—to culminate my years’ end—and arrival into this season of my life.

I’ve grown a lot over the years—but this past year I evolved with an awakening—awareness—and assignment that ONLY God could have orchestrated for me.

So….

~Dr. Anita Phillips’ - “A Garden Within” is a gift offering. Awakened my deepest heart-matters—and the revelation beyond this is remarkable…. my body being His temple—has renewed awareness and value beyond measure.

~The brilliance that was—Marion Ettlinger aka: bell hooks—still is via: “salvation (black people and love)” & “communion (the female search for love)”—presented a profound awareness —and support into my own internal struggles, realizations—and actualization stories—conflicts and realities. So, that “not normal”—“odd”—“crazy”, narrative now has a gentler, kinder—yet more powerful voice than I have ever encountered and comprehended before.

~The genius that is Adam Grant (my favorite I-O Psychologist)—though appealing to my Psychology-Geek traits—“Hidden Potential-The Science of Achieving Greater Things “—this book left me wanting nothing less than —to know and understand the dynamic of my own “hidden potential.”

~Then there’s Brian Simmons’— anointed—God-breathed Women’s Devotional, “I Hear His Whisper”—given to me as a Birthday Gift—this gem summarizes and renews my comprehension for the Biblical directive to, “Guard the affections of your [my] heart.” ~Proverbs 4:23.

AND lastly, I read my own book this year. “Be Who You Say You Are” is a work that I took great pride into writing. It was cathartic for me as its author—and amazingly found its way into the hands, hearts and minds of some people with whom I have forged substantial connections and relationships. So, more is happening as a result of this work—and I look forward to its evolution in 2025.

So, while a very long post to make a short recommendation—if you are a reader—and haven’t read any of the following books—I highly recommend. Even if you aren’t a “Believer.”🫶🏾🌻🤍
