Time-Travel ⌛️

This Monday morning—the 22nd of June 2026, I am grateful. I awakened this morning, in my own bed, feeling as if I had dreamt the last 24-48 hours because surely there was no way all of the people I interacted, connected and talked with could have happened in real time. There is no way that I could have physically traveled from my home in Maryland, to Georgia and back in the time that it takes me to drive from home to Dover, Delaware and experience the magnitude of magnificence that was my weekend. During this ”time-travel” I met, interacted, and had full blown conversations with once strangers who are now in my contacts. People that asked me about myself and I, in exchange, learned who they were. We talked about our experiences, aspirations, challenges, and things that made us happy and proud. I met aspiring, and actual authors, and exchanged ideas and resources. I stopped into a diner for a bite to eat where I had the good pleasure of meeting (sitting alongside) an airplane pilot that shared stories of his flight experiences, he even shared pictures of his beautiful family that “keeps him grounded” no matter how many flights he lifts off the ground. And it all started with a simple “Hello.” Of no surprise; because it’s Atlanta after all, I met a couple of celebrities at the beautiful hotel and conference center where I lodged which just happened to be the same hotel-conference center where my youngest daughter attended senior prom— unbeknownst to me at the time of making my reservation. Most notable was Skip Martin of the Dazz Band. “Most notable” because well before he ever mentioned who he was, he’d engaged me about being an author, and then upon his departure from the elevator, told me who he was. And at least two Atlanta Braves players were amongst us dining at the hotel’s restaurant, “The Pub.” The food there is delicious! As for the ATL Braves, they won one— they lost one, but seems like fans that I sat with on the flight back enjoyed both games. As for me, It was from the hotel’s sprawling golf-course porch that I got to enjoy the fireworks in celebration of the games. And this was all before the book event that I was in town for even took place. The words to describe the magnitude, magnificence, and wonder of that experience, I am still trying to conjure up! Surreal comes to mind. And I am still in awe of looking up and seeing my co-worker, colleague and friend standing there… all the way from Alexandria, Virginia—she was there. And though she was visiting with family, she was intentional about coming to support me before she got back on the highway to head home. And then there was the tribe—Tracey Johnson, Michelle Wright-Brown, Billy & Darlene Byrd (The LoveByrds), that came through like angelic energy. And literally embodied the placement of being “a fence around me.” Now the feeling that the “time-travel” experience was coming to its end, would be my entrance into my home. As I stepped into my doorway, a literal song of praise, gratitude and appreciation for God’s profound presence, protection, provision, love, kindness and intimate involvement in my life escaped my heart and resonated throughout my home. A sense of peace, safety, purpose and love enveloped me that I am still sitting in. But as I awakened, from what otherwise felt like a dream, I see the evidence of its reality from the suitcase and travel bag that sat in the middle of my bedroom’s seating area—unpacked and strategically placed so that I am not able to walk past it without acknowledging all that took place. So, in this moment, I am in awe, and reflection of “time.” Time is what we do—time is what we move through—time is valuable and should be treated as such. Like currency—time is only as valuable as what we use it for. Like currency—time well used, well moved and spent with intentionality towards “purpose” renders time fulfilled—no matter how little time you have. In our departures and arrivals—we must tell and show people that we love them—because what was once again reinforced during my time-travel this weekend is that tomorrow is not promised to any one of us—and everyone that’s here today may not be here tomorrow.
So, make it your business to maximize your movement, exhaust every opportunity for love while traveling through time! 💫🕊️🤍
In conclusion, and respect for time, and its importance to my own personal progress, I must retreat from social media for a bit. While it indeed has its benefits for the “creative”—it’s also a distraction and depleting source of the same thing it could potentially benefit.
